Norton, Jeannette A. (Speers)
Norton, Jeannette A. (Speers), 92 of South Yarmouth, died Saturday November 26 at her home in South Yarmouth. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Norton, who died in 1978.
Born, raised and educated in Waterbury, CT, Mrs. Norton was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School.
Mrs. Norton lived in Cheshire, CT for over 40 years. During the 1960’s and early 1970’s, she worked as the secretary for the Principal of Cheshire High School. She moved to South Yarmouth in 1972.
Mrs. Norton was a founding member of the Daughters of Issabella from St. Bridget’s Church in Cheshire.
An avid bridge player, Mrs. Norton had a good sense of humor and was a good storyteller.
Mrs. Norton is survived by a daughter, Holly Norton of South Yarmouth; a brother, Thomas Speers of South Yarmouth; two grandsons, Brian Hoben of South Yarmouth and James Hoben of Yarmouthport. She is also survived four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Marianne Norton and Janet Hoben; a sister, Maye Feest; and a grandson, Michael Hoben.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 30 in Saint Pius Tenth Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
In addition, a Memorial service will be held at a later date at The Church of the Ephany in Cheshire, CT.
Interment will be private.
Visitation will precede the Mass beginning at 9 a.m. in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
Memorial donations may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod, 434 Rte. 134, South Dennis, MA 02660.
