Buchanan, Andrew Ross
Buchanan, Andrew Ross, 75 of Dennisport and formerly of Swampscott, died Sunday November 27 at the Essex Pavilion in Hyannis, after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Alcott) Buchanan for 28 years.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Hugh and Catherine (MacGowan) Buchanan, Mr. Buchanan was raised and educated in Glasgow. He came to the United States in 1969 and lived in Lynn, MA.
Mr. Buchanan worked as an electrician for Massachusetts Electric of Lynn and Malden. He moved to Dennisport in 1993 from Swampscott, where he had lived for many years.
He was a life member of the Grand Lodge of Masons, Lodge Ruchill No. 1436 of Scotland and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Buchanan is survived by three daughters, Lynne Buchanan of Lowell, Andrea Comeau and her husband, Thomas of Barrington, NH and Wendy McKernan of Lynn; three sons, Ross Buchanan and his wife, Kristen, of Barrington, NH and Ian and Andrew Buchanan, both of Scotland; a step-son, Kenneth Guilford of Chipley, FL; a sister, Margaret Cummings of Kirkintilloch, Scotland; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday November 29 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
Interment will be private.
