Otto L. Kittila
Otto L. Kittila, died on January 4, 2010. He was born in Hyannis, was a lifelong resident of West Yarmouth, graduated from Yarmouth High School, and was the husband of C. Dorothy (Siira) Kittila, who died in 2002. They had been married for more than 60 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England as a repair specialist on multi-engine bombers. After the war, he worked as an estate caretaker on Great Island, and then as a carpenter. He became a well respected and successful business owner, operating his own excavation business from 1953 until his retirement in 1983.

He was also a precinct worker for the town. For over 50 years he has been a member of the Masons, serving most recently at Howard Lodge AF & AM in South Yarmouth. He was a call firefighter for the Yarmouth Fire Department for more than 30 years, assigned to Engine 8 in West Yarmouth. In 2003 he was honored with a plaque at the Winslow Gray Conservation Area for his efforts in donating family cranberry bogs and other property to the Yarmouth Conservation Commission. He was a member of the West Yarmouth Congregational Church, where he previously served as a Deacon, and was also a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. Kittila is survived by two sons, Raymond O. and his wife, Michele, of South Yarmouth, and Robert N. of Bass River, three grandchildren, Corey Kittila of West Yarmouth, Amy Henderson of Upton, and Andrew Kittila of Brighton, CO, three great grandchildren, and a niece and cousins. He was the brother of the late Bertha Sullivan.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Thursday, January 7 from 4-7 P.M. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 8 at 11:00 A.M. in the West Yarmouth Congregational Church, Route 28, West Yarmouth. Burial will be in Chandler
Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth, MA.
