Cayton, Edward Leo, Sr. "Archie"
Cayton, Edward Leo, Sr. "Archie", of South Yarmouth died on June 29, 2011 at the age of 90. He was the husband of Avis (White) Cayton for 69 years.

Born on May 13, 1921, in Taunton, Mass he attended Coyle High School where he was inducted into the football Hall of Fame.

He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy as an electrician’s mate. Following his WWII service,he was an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers , Local 223. He moved to Cape Cod in 1979.

He was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret (Reilly) Cayton and brother to the late Kenneth Cayton and the late Ruth Hoffman.

In addition to his wife he is survived by eight children: Avis Carter of Yarmouth, Edward Cayton, Jr. of Taunton, David Cayton of Dennis, George Cayton of Berkley, MA , Cynthia Hackett of Taunton, Timothy Cayton of Westport, MA, Lisa Botelho of Berkley, MA, and Martha Brigham of Dennis. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, from the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral Mass at 12:30pm in St. Pius Tenth Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Burial is private.
