Briggs, Lucette, J. (Perry)
Briggs, Lucette, J. (Perry), of West Yarmouth, died July 20 at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Harland H. Briggs who passed away in 1989.
Born in her parent’s home in Centerville, the daughter of the late Myron H. and Marie C. (Lejuene) Perry. Mrs. Briggs was a native of Cape Cod.
After her graduation from Barnstable High School in 1939, Mrs. Briggs was elected ‘Miss Cape Cod” at the American Legion Military Ball held in Chatham.

Mrs. Briggs attended nursing school in Buffalo, N.Y. and was later employed as a L.P.N. in Our Lady of Victory Orphanage in Lackawanna, N.Y. until she married and began raising her family. She continued nursing duties throughout the years, completing a certificate program at Cape Cod Community College, W. Barnstable and working in private duty for various agencies on Cape Cod.

Mrs. Briggs was an active parishioner of Saint Pius X Church and formerly of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Hyannis. She loved animals and adopted several cats and dogs over the years, in addition to enjoying 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and writing as well as collecting newspaper articles and kept an active scrap book of memoirs.

In addition to her brother, Marcel R. Perry and his wife Pearl L. (Berg) Perry, Mrs. Briggs in survived by her eight children,, Daniel H. Briggs of Hyannis, Paul T. Briggs of Mashpee, Maureen Briggs-Carrington of Turners Falls, Patrician L. Briggs of Greenfield, Perry J. Briggs of Hyannis, Anne L. Briggs of W. Yarmouth, John S. Briggs of Hyannis, and James C. Briggs of Vermont. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Madeleine L. (Perry) Hassett and her husband Richard Hassett of Yarmouthport.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 3-5 p.m. on Monday, July 25, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA
