Rodday, Allen N. "Nick"
Rodday, Allen N. "Nick", of Brewster, MA and the former proprietor of Elm Brook Farm in Concord, MA passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2011 in his 91st year. He was the husband of the late Diantha Anne(Wilcox) Rodday and the father of William A. Rodday of Concord, MA, John N. Rodday of Dennis, MA and the late Andrea W. Rodday and Peter D. Rodday. He was the brother of the late Robert J. Rodday of Dennis. Mr. Rodday leaves 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Allen “Nick” Rodday was a long time Concord, MA resident from 1921 to 1980 when he retired to Brewster. He attended Concord Schools and was a graduate of New Hampton School in New Hampton, NH. There he was an accomplished downhill ski racer. Later he served in the U.S. Army as a gunner aboard aircraft during WWII on the West Coast of the US. Upon discharge, he worked for the R.J. Rodday Companies in Boston until he became the proprietor of Victory Lee Stables on Riverdale Rd. in Concord. MA. He later bought Elm Brook Farm on Virginia Rd in Concord. For years he provided riding lessons, Sunday trail rides, friendship and a place to belong for many riders, young and old. Nick also drove hayride wagons and wedding carriages. At one time the farm was home to over 60 horses and ponies. Nick retired to Brewster in 1980 where he continued to offer riding to Cape Codders at Moby Dick Farm in Brewster. Nick was well known for his broad smile, quick welcome, his group of followers and his rich tenor voice.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 5, in Carlton Hall, 1006 Old Bass River Road, Dennis.
