Stella Lucie Dery, 99, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Cape Cod Hospital. She is now wrapped in the warm, caring and protective arms of our Heavenly Father, where her eternal life will begin. Stella was born on June 25, 1925, to Alcide Ulderic and Delores Pontbriand Champigny of School St., Central Falls, RI.

Along with Stella’s parents, she was predeceased by her two younger brothers, Donald and Gerald Champigny, her husband Paul H. Dery Sr., her son Brian D. Dery and her grandson Zackery Dery. Stella is survived by her two sons, Paul H. Dery Jr. and Russell P. Dery, five grandchildren, Lisa Dery, Lauren Dery, Paul H. Dery III, Denise Dery, and Heather Dery Gerlach, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stella’s working career included, being the secretary to U.S. Senator J. Howard McGrath from RI and was later employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Providence, RI in an upper managerial capacity. Later, she was a self-employed realtor at S.L. Dery & Associates, who operated in the Chatham and Harwich area of Cape Cod for over 40 years. Stella spent many enjoyable years as an artist painting with oil. She also loved playing contract bridge and golf with her friends, both on Cape Cod and Stuart, Florida. Stella also traveled our great country extensively in an Airstream for many years.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
