Richard R. Stone Jr., 69, of Wareham, formerly of Yarmouth, passed away at home Thursday, July 31, in the care of his loving wife and family.

Known as Rick to friends and family, he was born May 8, 1956, to Richard R. Stone Sr. and Patricia (Droogan) Stone.

Raised in Northborough and Clinton, he graduated from St. John’s High School, Shrewsbury, moving soon after to Cape Cod. After numerous sales positions and on the road jobs, he began work at TODAY Real Estate. Rick worked in real estate for 10 years and loved every minute. He was consistently recognized for being a top-producing sales associate in total sales and dollar volume while receiving many awards. Through his dedication and commitment to his profession, he made many friends who bought or sold homes with him. He was highly regarded by his colleagues in the industry and was respected and adored by his TODAY family, remembered Todd Machnik, president of TODAY Real Estate. “Rick was a friend to all.”

Among Rick’s greatest passions was owning and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, of which he possessed several over the years. Aside from pleasure riding, he participated in countless charity rides including R.O.A.R Cape Cod and Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen.

Rick was also proud of his 26 years of sobriety and was always willing to help fellow members of Alcoholics Anonymous to reach their goal.

He leaves his beloved wife, Alison (Pierce) Stone, who cared tirelessly for Rick in his last days. He is also survived by his cherished son, Jared Stone, of Dennisport and his devoted sister, Kathleen Morrissey of Shrewsbury. He also leaves stepchildren Benjamin, Gabrielle, Cameron, Charlotte and Annabelle Peak along with two nieces: Sara Tercero, her husband David, and their children Mia, Ezra, and Alexa; and Lauren Obrien, her husband Kevin and their children Madeline and William.

He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Marsha; his sister Susan Cranson, and his brother-in-law Chris Liponis.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Rick to http://Danafarber.Jimmyfund.org. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. There is no burial. I met Rick many years ago and he was obe filled with compassion and kindness. Came and helped me with my sewing machine. Not sure how many knew how smart and talented Rick really was. He will be very much missed.

We've been through a lot together in 45 years. Marsha was my best friend and lived with me and my husband when she first met Rick. I was a bridesmaid at their wedding and was Marsha's best friend to the end. I stayed in constant contact as we processed the grief of her loss and the damage to his body after a dreadful accident on his bike. A few years later my husband died. Rick always had an ear, or a shoulder, or a smartass wisecrack and helped to lift me back up. I was thrilled that he'd found Ali & so thankful she was there to hold him up over this past year. Kathy, and Ali - I'm so very sorry for your loss. and dear Jared, you know how much Rick was loved. You get what you give, y'know? And Rick Stone gave a lot. I'm so glad (and lucky!) to have had him in my life. See you on the other side, old friend.

Rick Stone was a kind and loving man. I met him at the atrium restaurant in the covet Yarmouth when it was owned and operated by Angelo dicensio where also Phil Sheinis worked, as well as an incredible staff. Rick was a liquor distributor at the time and would enjoy the music as he drank his cranberry juice and ginger ale he always had a smile for everyone and his laugh was very contagious. Hadn't seen him for many many years , he was a very kind soul rest in peace Rick enjoy the Harley rides in heaven

Dear Allie, Jared and family, I am so very sorry to learn about Ricks passing. Such a great guy, best sense of humor, and a professional wise guy……in a good way. He was such a proud Dad. Never met Jared but could tell he was a great kid, watched him grow up through his Fathers posts. Allie, you were adored and I hope your memories will help you through your loss.
