Mary Elizabeth Culhane-Nunziato (McGrath), 57 of Dennis, MA passed away after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, August 19, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Mary Beth grew up in Burlington, MA, born to the late Bob and Louise McGrath.

She moved to Harwich, MA, where she found her career as a home health aide. Her desire to help others made her thrive in her work while taking care of “her old people”, as she affectionately called them.

Mary Beth touched so many lives. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. If you were fortunate enough to fit into one of these categories, you are truly a lucky person. Mary Beth was the cook of the family. At every event no matter how big or small, she would spend days before the party cooking. She knew that feeding stomachs, was the answer to their happiness. When she wasn’t busy working or cooking for her family and friends, she spent her time on projects. These projects included custom t-shirts, fish bowls and decorative bread baskets that she would share with family and friends.

She had a love for the beach and when everyone else was running from the storm, Mary Beth was heading to Nauset Beach to watch the waves crash against the shoreline. She also loved the White Mountains and would take her family there for a vacation every year. It was such a special place that she married her husband, Frank, at the Indian Head Resort. The crowd grew bigger over the years as she invited more family and friend to join her vacation. Walking the trails of the Basin, was a tradition she shared with all who loved her.

She was the devoted and dedicated wife of Frank Nunziato, her soulmate and partner in crime. She cherished her weekends and adventures with him. They would often take off in the morning, and you never knew where they would end up. They enjoyed the North End for Pizza Regina and would visit family and friends all over the state. She loved music, especially country and would always have a song playing.

Mary Beth was the affectionate mother of Amanda Griswold, who she was devoted to. Her love for her daughter was undeniable, “the love of a mother runs deep”. She will be missed by Amanda and her husband, Christopher Apolito. Her loving grandchildren, Camryn and Avery Griswold, whose fascination for popsicles because, ”what happens with Grandma stays with Grandma” , and, Joey and Lexi Apolito; stepchildren, Nicole, Rebecca and Frank Nunziato, Jr, and step-grandchild Erin.

She is also survived by her siblings, Warren Meehan and Donna of Arizona, Audrey Cain and her husband, Robert, of Billerica, Robert McGrath and his wife Tana of California, Kevin McGrath of Billerica, and Tracy Bernard and her husband, John of Medford. She was predeceased by her sister, Maureen Oravetz and her nephew, Gary Oravetz.

She will be remembered fondly as Aunt Bethy by her nieces and nephews, Laurie Callahan, Robert Jr, and Rick Cain, Justin, Jalen, Jovohn and Kylee Bernard, Jordan Oravetz, Michael Meehan and Lisa Nagle. She was the great Aunt Bethy to Devin and Madilyn Callahan, and Siana Bernard and Jena Meehan.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 28, 2021 at 2pm at the VFW, 150 George Ryder Rd S, Chatham, MA 02633. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

My sincere heartfelt sympathies Amanda and the entire McGrath family for your loss. It is with profound sadness to hear the news. I am one of the fortunate ones. Bethy was one of my closest and best friends growing up in Burlington. I will never forget those special times my friend; Jammin to the music until the wheels of the car lifted off the ground, our Grandparents, Grammy's meatballs, the beach, the laughter, the, tears, and inseparable three muskateers(Snooky). May you soar my sister! xoxo
