Helen A. Dovell of South Yarmouth, MA passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 after a long illness at the age of 94.  She was the daughter of the late William and Catherine.  She was predeceased by her husband, Louis F. Dovell as well as her brother, Francis.

Helen was born in Dorchester and grew up in South Easton on a working family farm, graduating from Oliver Ames High School and Williams Business School. Upon completing business school she worked in Boston as a secretary.

Helen raised her family in Brockton. Prior to moving to Cape Cod she spent many summers with her family at Campers Haven in Dennis Port. She brought a richness to the lives of everyone who knew her and was a lifetime learner; loving to read and write, paint and make crafts.  She loved concerts and dancing, the beach, outdoor activities, traveling, new experiences and gatherings with her family and friends.  Her love of everything fun and her infectious laugh invited the participation of those around her. She spent a lifetime of amassing wisdom

and readily sharing it with the people she touched.

Helen had a spiritual strength that came from a deep religious faith.  She will be loved and missed dearly by her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Michael Dovell and his wife, Katherine of GA, David Dovell and his wife, Lesa, of Yarmouth, Catherine Dovell-Llanes and her husband, Paul, of South Yarmouth, Peter Dovell of NH and Louis Dovell and Vickie of VA.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA.  Interment will be in Melrose Cemetery,

Brockton, MA.
