Prudence “Prudie” (Pendell) Allen 70 of West Dennis was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She passed away on October 11, 2021 surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

Prudie was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary “Mollie” Pendell.  She grew up in Wakefield, MA and began visiting West Dennis as a girl.

Prudie met the love of her life, Kenneth “Ken” Allen at the University of Maine when she was a freshman.  They were married in 1973 and began a wonderful 48-year life together, living in Syracuse, NY, Saco, ME, Washington, D.C., Albany, NY, and Augusta, ME, before settling for 33 years in Hingham, MA.  They moved to her parents’ Cape House in West Dennis in 2016 so they could enjoy being near the beach, one of Prudie’s favorite places.

Prudie spent over 30 years with H&R Block beginning as a tax preparer, then a trainer, culminating in many years as a district manager, supervising territory from Quincy to Hyannis.  It was during this time that she perfected her love of driving fast and keeping a console full of candy and snacks at the ready.

Her family was a source of great pride, and Prudie excelled at spoiling them and hosting joyous family holiday celebrations.  She had a knack for making everything extra special.  She loved doing projects with her grandchildren, making craft gifts, special food concoctions, and other surprises for their parents.  She was an incredibly supportive and selfless mother, always available to listen and help her daughters through each stage of their lives.  She and Ken built a wonderful life, supporting and loving each other daily.

Prudie loved to travel, and she and Ken took many adventures together.  A particular highlight was their trip to Dubai and Egypt where they cruised the Nile and she rode a camel in front of the Pyramids.  They also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas where she would happily spend time playing slot machines and attending shows.

She leaves behind many friends, including the Bunko girls back in Hingham, and the Wine Tasting Group in Dennis and Yarmouth.  She was an amazing hostess, cooking delicious meals and making each gathering feel special.

Prudie is survived by her loving husband, Ken, her daughter, Katherine Levine and her husband, Joshua of Longmeadow, MA and Courtney Brandt and her husband, Edward of Reading, MA.  She was also the best Nana to Tillie, Charlie, and Murray Levine and Douglas Brandt. They were all blessed to have her in their lives.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Prudie’s life on Tuesday, October 19 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth, MA.  Visiting hours will be from 12:00 o’clock noon to 2:00 P.M., with a service at 2:00 o’clock P.M.

Those wishing to honor her memory may do so by sending donations to Camp Nellie Huckins (camphuckins.org), a special place where Prudie spent her childhood summers and shared with her two daughters.

Ken, I am so sorry for you loss. I remember when you came to Fields Corner and Prudie always was checking on you. My response to her was he's doing okay. For over thirty years, there was always the three P's Prudie, Patty, and Prendee. She will be missed.

I am so sad to see this! I had the great pleasure of working for Prudie as her admin assistant in Braintree when I was just starting out with block 12 years ago. She was always so kind and fun to be around. I am so sorry for your family’s loss.

Ken and family. We just heard the news about Prudie's death. We are so so sorry, and said a prayer for her this morning at Bible Study. It feels like ages since we've seen you all, but have many great memories of your time, our time, at HCC in Hingham. We are sending prayers to you, your daughters, their kids. Best to you. Gerald Linda and Gerald Jones
