Helen E. (Balfour) Mullaney 92 of South Yarmouth died peacefully Monday November 22, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Helen was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth since 1970. She became a Eucharistic minister in 1979. She was very honored to be asked to become a Eucharistic minister and to share her Catholic faith with others. Helen became very active in the St. Pius X Women’s Club and had many fond memories of the club’s activities, particularly the monthly pancake breakfast.

Helen was the proprietor of The Gull House Needlecraft Shop in West Dennis from 1978 - 2001. She loved knitting and giving her hand-crafted gifts to her family.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation for their kindness and care. Special thanks to Judy S. for the exceptional in-home support she provided that kept Helen at home for so long.

Helen is survived by her children, Susan Procopio and her husband, Peter of North Brookfield, Jeanne Barbi and her husband, Mark of South Yarmouth, Donald Mullaney of Yarmouth Port, and Daniel Mullaney of Norwood; a sister, Agnes “Nanny” Zimmerman of Lakeville; a brother, William Balfour III of Marlborough; six grandchildren, Catherine, Allison, Isabel, Francesca, Luke, and Molly; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her parents, William and Helen (Glynn), and her sister, Barbara McGrath.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday November 27 in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Summer St., Yarmouth Port.

Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday November 26 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, 2095 Main St., Brewster, MA 02631.

So sorry to hear about your moms passing. I have such great memories of her making her famous Whoopi pies when we were kids.
