Clifford L. Hagberg 92 of Yarmouth Port died Wednesday December 22, 2021 at his home. He kept his uplifting sense of humor and mental awareness right until the end.

He was the loving husband of Margaret I. (Whitner, Ford) Hagberg. They had been married for 25 years.

Born in Worcester, Cliff was the son of the late Clifford L. and Helen (Edwards) Hagberg.

Cliff was a long-time motel owner in Bass River and was well known in town and loved and respected by all who knew him. Typically the life of the party, Cliff was also a kind and generous man who helped many people without fanfare or accolades. He simply thought that helping other people was the right thing to do, so he did it, quietly and generously.

A great golfer, tennis player, fisherman and all-round sportsman, there was no sport he couldn’t play. He loved beating the younger guys and you never wanted to bet against him - he would win. A love for people and a great, booming laugh made him someone you simply wanted to be with.

Cliff was a wonderful storyteller, and would often entertain everyone with stories of his adventures. They were great stories that spoke to his simple humanity. If he considered you a friend, that was it. Nothing else needs to be said. You were a friend for life. He was happiest when surrounded by his loving family and friends. He enjoyed watching football games, holiday get-togethers, and planning and supervising drinks and delicious meals for family and friends. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Cliff is survived by his loving children, Clifford Hagberg, Jody Vargas, Gary Hagberg, Jill Twombly, and Wendy Walther; his stepchildren, Flick, Ashley, and Walton Ford, and Emily Daeschler; fourteen grandchildren: and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday January 8 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
