Patricia Philbrook

Patricia passed away peacefully, at the age of 95, on December 18 at the home of her son, Kelley.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, W. Richard Philbrook.  The daughter of Albert H. Kelley and Helen (Crowell) Kelley, Pat was born November 5, 1926 at the Cape Cod Hospital.  She was a life-long resident of Yarmouth and a proud Cape Cod native.  She could trace her family roots back to the first settlers of Yarmouth.

Pat graduated from Yarmouth High School (John Simpkins) in 1944 and attended Jackson (Tufts) College and the Boston School of Occupational Therapy.  After raising her boys, she became the librarian at the M. E. Small School in West Yarmouth for 20 years.  Upon retiring from the Small School, she became the librarian at the Yarmouth Port Library for five years.  She moved to Mayflower Place following her husband’s death and was the Resident’s Association president for 2 years.

Pat was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth.  She was active in their Sunday School program, the women’s groups and was a member of various committees over the years.  Pat was a third- generation member of The Friday Club in Yarmouth Port and oversaw their 100th year celebrations as its’ president.

Patricia is survived by her four sons; T. Varnum Philbrook and his wife, Elizabeth of Dennis, Kelley Philbrook  and his wife, Sandi of Dennis, Jonathan Philbrook and his wife, Ruth of Rochester, MA and Christian Philbrook and his wife, Andrea, also of Dennis.   She has nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Pat was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Richard M. Kelley and Albert H. Kelley, Jr. and her sister Marcia F. White.

Burial will be private.  A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at a later date at her church. 

The family wishes to thank Kristie Grenier (Beacon Hospice) and Julie Robbins for the special and loving care they gave to Pat during her last days.  We couldn’t have done it without you both.
