Catherine Marie (Whitman) Lopes, age 62, of Dennis, MA passed away on February 15, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Catherine was born on May 20, 1959, to Frederick and Virginia (Hanger) Whitman in Grand Rapids Michigan. Following her graduation from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1977, Catherine went to work at Shaw’s Supermarket for 36 proud years.

On June 14, 2006, Catherine met her husband, Gerald Lopes and they spent sixteen wonderful years together. She is predeceased by her father, Frederick Whitman and survived by her mother, Virginia “Happy” Whitman and two brothers: Frederick Whitman II and William Whitman as well as her beloved children: Darren, Sean, Troy, and Ryan Donahue and two wonderful grandchildren, Noah and Liam Donahue.

Catherine enjoyed spending time singing and playing guitar or cozying up at home with an arts and crafts project.  She loved coaching cheerleading as well as watching her sons play sports.  Being with the people she loved was most important. Catherine always put others before herself and always helped those in need.

Family and friends are invited to call at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 5-7 P.M.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 11, 2022 at  11 A.M. at Our Lady of The Cape Church, Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA.

There aren't enough words to convey all that Kit (Catherine) meant to so many throughout her beautiful life. Kit was gracious, loving and caring to all she touched in life. I am truly sorry for the loss of Kit's presence here on earth, and especially glad for her touching my soul while here. May her mother Happy, my friend, find some peace in knowing Kit is with God.

My dear cousin Cathy was a fun, loving, & compassionate person. When we were together we had some great talks, a lot of giggles. . Always supporting others in their life’s ambitions. She was very good at what she did, like singing with her guitar & loved her job & always there for others. It’s a mystery to me when God takes his best from us, believe me there is a reason which we will never know till we meet again. We will miss an incredible daughter, mother & grandma & friend, remember she is with us in spirit, there will be those subtle signs that will remind us of her and you will know when they happen. I will truly miss you Cathy.

To the beautiful boys of Kits and her loving husband, her beautiful Mom, and brothers, All our hearts are broken with the untimely passing of Kit. We all loved her dearly. She was such an integral part of her son’s educational experience at Sunshine and Rainbows Nursery School. She came in like a breath of spring and made such warm relationships with the other Moms and Dads. Kit showed us all how to be kind and caring, always thinking of others beside herself. I was proud to call her a friend…. make God hold you in the palm of his hand and watch closely over your family. God Bless them. Ginny Ross
