Priscilla J. (DeMone) Smith 94 of Fall River and a former longtime resident of Hyannis died peacefully Wednesday March 30, 2022, surrounded by her sons.

She was the wife of the late William M. Smith, who died in 2007.

Born, raised and educated in Medford, Priscilla was the daughter of the late Leman and Sadie (Silver) DeMone. She was a proud graduate of Medford High School in 1945, where she enjoyed performing in many dance recitals. Her family then moved to Hyannis where she graduated from the Cape Cod Secretarial School in 1947 and met her husband, Bill at a Federated Church of Hyannis dance. They were married in 1949 and settled in Hyannis, where they raised their six children.

Priscilla was a secretary at Cape Cod Hospital and at Barnstable High School for 20 years, as well as a waitress at East Bay Lodge, Allen Fredrich House and Red Coach Grill.

Priscilla was very passionate about family and insisted on family attendance at all family meals, especially Sunday afternoon dinners, where the meals were always excellent. She also organized many family picnics at local parks, where all cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and grandparents would attend, sometimes 50-60 people.

Priscilla also enjoyed ice skating, helping to teach ice skating at the Kennedy Rink, and watching her sons play hockey, even following their youth, high school and college teams all over New England, and as far away as Washington, D.C. and upstate New York.

Priscilla loved to travel, and she and Bill traveled all over the world. She was also a pet lover and always had a dog and cat throughout her life, including Holly, a St. Bernard, who was popular in the neighborhood and at Kennedy Rink.

Priscilla is survived by her children, Stephen Smith and his wife, Cathy of Yarmouth Port, Paul Smith of West Yarmouth, Bob Smith and his wife, Sharon of South Dennis, Mark Smith and his wife, Peg of Centerville, and Jack Smith and his wife, Julia of Duxbury; fourteen grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Jeannie Cahill in 2019.

Interment will be private.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday April 8 in Alberto’s Restaurant, 360 Main St, Hyannis, MA 02601. Family and friends are welcome.

As an expression of sympathy, the family requests gifts, in Priscilla’s memory be sent to the MSPCA - Cape Cod, 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.
