Harold “Hal” J. Saling, Jr., 78, of Yarmouth Port passed away suddenly on May 22, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was born in Somerville, NJ, the son of the late Harold J. Saling, Sr. and Pauline Carver Saling.

Hal joined the US Air Force in July of 1962, served in Vietnam and retired in 1984 as Senior Master Sargent. After 21 years in the service, he moved to Cape Cod and spent 10 years working as management at Bradlees, then 10 years at the South Yarmouth Post Office. He fully retired in 2006.

Hal is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Beatrice Piche Saling; sister Loretta Bertrand of Toms River, NJ; sons Harold J. Saling III and his wife Terri, Charles Saling; daughters Julie Bishop and her husband Iain, and Christine Worster and her husband Paul; grandchildren Teresa Forrest, Rebecca Saling, John Bishop and his wife Molly, and Olivia Bishop. He was also survived by his great-grandchildren Shawn Barr, Hannah Barr, and Wesley. He was predeceased by his grandson Steven Saling.

Hal was a world traveler who visited many countries. Some of his favorite trips were to Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Galapagos Islands and France. To put it in his own words “I traveled the world to see its wonders, and the best parts were the people I met along the way. My trips were not just vacations they were adventures.” Hal is now on a new adventure.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Yarmouth Port.

Bea I am sooo sorry My heart aches for you I have been sick for over a week Neg for Covid 4x Bronchitis I AM SORRY I CANNOT ATTEND THE WAKE OR funeral I will call you next week I know you have so many calls now
