Amerigo Corsetti, 92, of Yarmouth, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on June 25, 2022. Born in Cassino, Italy, Amerigo would become the epitome of the “American Dream”. In 1954 after serving in the Italian Army, he left his home in Cassino and traveled to Macclesfield, England where he met his life partner for the next 67 years, Joan Beresford. In 1959 Amerigo and Joan immigrated to the United States where together they became United States citizens.

Amerigo was a true renaissance man. He could easily have had many titles, businessman, musician, farmer, woodworking craftsman, automobile mechanic, gardener, cement mason, and accomplished/esteemed ballroom dancer. Amerigo’s love of nature and working with his hands was one of his favorite things.

In 1986, Amerigo and Joan moved to Cape Cod from Reading, MA where they lived their lives for the past 38 years.

Amerigo is survived by his one and only wife of 65 years, Joan (Beresford), son Antony and his wife Cathy, daughter Jeanette and her partner Sue Beck, and son Merrick and his wife Ellen. Grandchildren Michael, Megan, Sophia, and Jason and great-grandchild, Liam. He is also survived by his sister Maria Caruso of Reading, MA and his brother Domenic Corsetti of Winchester, MA. Amerigo also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in the United States, Italy and England. Amerigo was predeceased by his mother Graziella, father Vincenzo, brother Anthony, sister Leonilda, sister Valeria, and brother Tony.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Corsetti. Mr. Corsetti and Mrs. Corsetti graciously welcomed me into their home. Although my time with the family was brief, I enjoyed listening to Mr. Corsetti’s stories. I am so sorry for your loss. May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.
