Robin W. Wilcox, 70, of South Dennis passed away at home on July 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family, after an almost one year battle with cancer.  He was the husband of Gail Alger-Wilcox for thirty-two years.  Born in Santa Monica, CA, he was the son of the late Myron E. Jr. and Catherine L. Wilcox.

As the son of a Marine Corps officer, Robin spent his childhood living on military bases around the world, beginning at Camp Pendleton, CA and moving on to Honolulu, Hawaii, Fort Dix, NJ, Lakenheath Royal Air Force Base in Suffolk, England, Alexandria, VA, Portsmouth Kittery Naval Shipyard, ME and then to South Yarmouth in 1970.

Robin attended Northeastern University in the Engineering program.  After four years he left Northeastern and went to work for the Town of Yarmouth Engineering Department.  He later took the Registered Land Surveyors exam, passing it on the first attempt.  As a professional land surveyor, Robin worked for Thomas E. Kelly, Richard O’Hearn, Joe Monohan, Craig Short, Levy Eldridge & Wagner, for himself and finally Sweetser Engineering in 1990.  In 1993 he became the sole proprietor of Sweetser Engineering and ran the business up until the day of his passing.

Robin always had a special place in his heart for our servicemen and women.  He was happy to donate his engineering services for the building of the Homeless Veterans Home in Dennis and also assisted with many projects for Habitat for Humanity.  Robin had extensive knowledge of the Mid-Cape area and always made time to pass that knowledge on to anyone who would benefit from it.

In his leisure time Robin enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing, attending Scottish Highland games, rescuing and raising Boston Terriers, watching the Celtics, making latch hook rugs, traveling to his home in Fort Myers, FL and plowing snow for family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Robin is survived by his son Patrick of Montana, his sister, Judie Ritchie of Maryland, his stepsons Richard and his wife, Charlene Alger of Centerville, and Jon “Bubba” and his wife, Rachel Alger of Brewster.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Diana Wilcox of South Yarmouth, seven nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Edward “Tod” Wilcox.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 1:00 -3:00 P.M. with a celebration of his life at 3:00 P.M.
