John “ Jack” P. Woods

John “ Jack” P. Woods, 79, of South Yarmouth and San Antonio, FL, passed away, Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in the comfort of his South Yarmouth home with his wife, Beverly Canfield-Woods and family by his side.

Jack was born in Quincy to John and Mary (Manning) Woods. He served in the Naval Reserves and later the National Guard. He was a graduate of Northeastern University’s Engineering School and worked for MIT/Lincoln Labs for 42 years in Group 64.

The love for Golden Retriever dogs was evident in his volunteer work at Yankee Golden Rescue and support for Sunshine Golden Rescue. A resident of Tampa Bay Golf Club, San Antonio, FL and South Yarmouth, MA enabled him to pursue his love for golf and the beach.

He is survived by his stepchildren, William Miller and his wife Gina of FL, Tracey Miller of Stoughton, his son David Woods of ME, and 3 adopted children from a previous marriage; Daniel Porter, Gordon Darling and his wife Maureen, and Jessica Carleton and her husband Richard. He leaves 12 grandchildren and several cousins.

Jack had an infectious smile, a kind and gentle soul, and a heart filled with love for his family, friends, and pets. He will be missed by so many.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 2-4pm, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth.

Dear Bev and family, We will sadly miss Jack. He was always such a fun-loving guy. His love of golf made him a natural competitor in life. He was a good neighbor and friend. His welcome smile and conversation will greatly be missed. Our prayers are with you at this time. Ed& Weena
