Dennis:  Peter Hall Machon, 44, passed away from natural causes in his home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. 
 
Born at Cape Cod Hospital, Peter spent his youth on the beaches of Cape Cod doing what he loved most: surfing, swimming, fishing and sailing with friends and family. He was a kind soul with a big heart and always willing to help others, the rare altruist.
 
Peter graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology from Syracuse University, where he was a member of the men’s crew team. His love for the ocean then brought him to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he was on the sailing team and received a B.S. in Marine Engineering. He then traveled the world as a Marine Engineer. 
 
Peter will forever be remembered for his contagious smile and his love for scuba diving, playing guitar, listening to Van Halen, NASCAR, and the determination to ride his motorcycle from Boston to Cape Cod in the middle of winter. Never far from the ocean, he resided in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Florida. 
 
He is survived by his parents, Allen and Debbie (Dornback) Machon, brother David and his wife, Kristen (Chipman) Machon, sister Janet (Machon) and her husband Matthew Lampkin, as well as  beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
 
We love you Peter. We will all miss your playful sense of humor, and the joy that you brought to our lives. 
 
May you rest in peace, and inspire us to love and care for others as you so genuinely did throughout your life.
 
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Peter Hall Machon to Syracuse University, 640 Skytop Road, 2nd Floor, Syracuse, NY 13244.
