John Eric Olson, 81, of East Dennis, MA passed away on August 24, 2022. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of Eric A. Olson and Sonia V. Olson.  John grew up in Easton, MA and graduated from Upsala College in New Jersey.  After many years in construction as a skilled drywaller, John became a correctional officer where he retired.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Filomena and her four children, Maria McDonald (Arado), Robert Arado, Lisa Arado, and Christopher Arado; John’s son Stephen and his wife Stacy of Marshfield; three grandchildren, Brandon Olson, Holly Olson, and Tiffany Olson; and one great grandson Myles Rose.  John was preceded in death by his son Michael and his daughter Cheryl.

John’s passion was religion, understanding the bible, and the life of Jesus Christ. John was always ready to lend a hand, share a prayer, or offer support to anyone in need.  John was also an avid reader who enjoyed reading about multiple topics, including his two favorites: religion and nutrition.  John’s heart was always in the right place and made time for a conversation on the telephone or in person for anyone that needed advice or just wanted to talk.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Dennis, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.

Dear Fil, family and friends, I am saddened to learn of John's passing. I love John and will always remember the talks we had as colleagues, co-workers, and most importantly as brothers in Christ. I am confidently assured that we will all one day reunite in God's eternal kingdom. May our Heavenly Father who saves us by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, comfort your grieving hearts. With love and blessings, Jerry Poh

Dear Fil and the entirety of John's family and friends, I am heartbroken to learn of Brother John's passing. John's was a brother in Christ, born again by the power of God, a true prayer warrior. I am confidently assured by the Word of our God revealed to us in HIS Holy Scriptures that John is now, and eternally will be, in the presence of our Savior and Lord, where one day we will all unite as one body. As our older brother Paul wrote: "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." I love you, JohnEO. You will always be my friend and brother in Christ. See you soon. With blessings and love to all. Yours in Christ, Jerry Poh
