Fred Granelli, Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on June 21, 2022 after living with Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. Even with his advanced disease, Fred tried to blow out his final birthday candles just a month before his death.

He shared a beautiful 56 years of marriage with the love of his life, Frances Hickey Granelli who passed away March 21, 2006. In his passing Fred leaves their four children, Steven Granelli and his wife Robin, the late Kevin Granelli and his wife Deborah, Cheryl Crupi and her husband Steven, Michele Deeney and her late husband Michael Deeney. His grandchildren Damara and her husband Richard Abelli, the late Richard Hefferon, Michele Crupi Downey and husband John, James Deeney, Steven Rayney his wife Elyse, and their son Maxton.

Fred was the son of Fred Granelli, Sr and Lena Marchetti. He was born and raised in Reading, MA and graduated from Reading Memorial High School before attending North Eastern University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice as a first generation college graduate. Fred served in the US Army during the Korean war with honorable discharge. He then began an admirable career with the Reading Police Department, rising through the ranks to Executive Officer/Deputy Chief. During his police career he held many positions including officer in charge of training. He retired in 1985 after 31 years of service.

Fred was a gifted musician who played the saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. He had many memorable years both playing in a band and listening to big band music with his cherished friends Bob and Paul.

Fred and Fran started their own company, Rustic Realty Trust, Builders and Developers. Fred was a talented carpenter and builder while Fran's attention to detail in her design talents made them a perfect complement to each other. Their successful business built and restored many homes on Cape Cod. Their children, friends, and neighbors live in the homes they created as an amazing team.

The Granelli's enjoyed creating wonderful memories with their family and enjoyed recalling so many wonderful times later in their lives. They enjoyed the simple pleasures that living on Cape Cod has to offer. Fred enjoyed traveling to Aruba and Alaska. Most of all, he adored being with his family and friends.

A special thanks to Mario and Flavia DaSilva for their outstanding care throughout his illness. Fred considered the DaSilva family part of his own. We are deeply grateful to you all.

Family and Friends will honor and remember Fred’s life by gathering at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1:45pm.
