 James P. Trocchi, 73, of Dennis, passed away peacefully on June 3 with his loving wife Barbara by his side. He was greeted at the gates of heaven by his devoted four- legged friends. James was born March 19,1950 to Albert and Mary (Desmond) Trocchi in Acushnet, MA.
 
 After graduating from Barnstable High School he played for the Cotuit Kettleers.  He attended Rollins College, receiving a full scholarship to play baseball.  Upon graduation he returned to Cape Cod and joined the Dennis Police Department.  He was a dedicated police officer for thirty years.  When he wasn’t on duty he could be found on the baseball field as an umpire.
 
Upon retirement he enjoyed many winters living and fishing at his Florida home
 
 James' good humor and generous spirit touched everyone he met. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to friends and neighbors.
 
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother John. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara (Kingsbury) Trocchi, beloved bassett hounds, Clara and Greta, and goddaughter Alizabeth Evans of Sandwich.
 
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA on June 9, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.  A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  Interment will follow at Mosswood Cemetery, Putnam Ave., Cotuit, MA.

Barbara wishes to thank VNA Hospice, friends and family for their many kindnesses at this difficult time.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Animal Rescue League - Brewster Shelter.

Jim was one of the kindest people I've ever met. Even though you lose touch over the years, thinking of Jim always brings a smile to your face. We lost one of the best when he passed. My deepest sympathies to Barbara. Gail Szegda

Yes jimmy there is a stadium in heaven for you to pitch a perfect game . We played together on league teams all star teams since little league high school and had the opportunity to play against him in college I went to univ Tampa and he Rollins . I have always believed that a persons try values come out while competing in sports . Jim was an all star on the field and the way he treated other teammates and opposing players. He never tooted his own horn but lifted the spirits of his teammates.Al of us looked up to him . I was so proud to call him a friend teammate and competitor. Save me a spot on the team up there I’ll bring my catchers mitt. I’m tearing up now so I’ll go you are going to be missed on the fields of cape cod and in the streets of Dennis.

We are so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I worked with Jim for 21 years at Dennis Police Department and he was the nicest, most respectful gentleman. We send our sympathy and love to Barbara. Alene and Dick Dowd
