Thomas D. North

Thomas D. North, 83, of South Dennis, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Arline (Dobson) North for over 34 years. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania,

Tom graduated from Union Endicott High School. He lived in Charlotte, Vermont where he had a long career with IBM, starting in engineering, then personnel, retiring as government relations representative. Following retirement, he became a lobbyist for the state of Vermont. After moving to Cape Cod, Tom worked as a tour guide for Cape Cod and the Islands. Music was most important to Tom; he played the trumpet and sang, especially when it involved his Christian Faith. He also hosted a Sunday radio program.

He was a member of the Church of The Redeemer. Tom was a fine woodworker and expert craftsman, sailor and skier.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia (Jobson) North and son-in-law, Robert Lasher. In addition to his wife, Arline, Tom is survived by his children, Cherie Lasher of Wells, NY; Patti North of Alexandria, VA; Steve North and wife, Aniek, of Vergennes, VT; Keith Burke and wife, Laurie, of Parker, CO; and Denise Berthiaume and husband, Michael, of Chambersburg, PA. Tom was known as “Pop Tom” to his grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Whitney, Kody, Nathan, Shauna, Megan, Craig and Paige; along with his great grandchildren, Tanner, Madison and Layne.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 2:00pm, by the Church of The Redeemer in the Seventh Day Adventist Building, 2736 Falmouth Road, Osterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Hope Health, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601

Our thoughts are with you and your family Arline. I so enjoyed Tom and his amazing voice singing along side of me in the choir. You both were such loving giving people to all and he will be truly missed. God Bless and RIP Tom. 323

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tom"s family. I worked with Tom in Vermont at IBM in the late 1960s and enjoyed the experience with him. May he rest in peace.
