On Sunday, April 17th, 2016, Cape Cod lost a long-time resident, Peter G. Brown. Born in Duxbury, Ma, he attended Boston University, continued his studies and later taught at the Boston School of Architecture. As the young president of Desmond and Lord in Boston, he orchestrated the joint ventures with architect Paul Rudolph for Boston’s Government Center building and UMass Dartmouth. Peter then went on to co-found Brown and Lindquist, Inc., a firm deeply rooted in New England.  Early on, they designed for numerous national transport clients such as American Airlines, US Air, Hertz Rent-A-Car, and Budget Rent-A-Car, as well as Logan Airport’s air traffic control tower. After moving to Cape Cod, the firm grew to be one of the largest on the Cape. Peter’s work is evident throughout New England today, with many clients in the banking and financial segment as well as local municipalities. Examples include design work with virtually all Cape towns, including police stations, fire stations and town halls. Peter’s love of golf influenced his work. His portfolio includes projects at the Hyannisport Club, the Dennis Pines Golf Course, and many other golf facilities. One of his most recent projects was the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, where Peter felt a real affinity for the organization and its staff.

Peter will be remembered for his life- long passion for the game of golf and its history. Starting as a caddy, he went on to become an Ouimet Scholarship recipient. He enjoyed many early accomplishments including becoming a Massachusetts State Junior Amateur finalist. As time went on he routinely competed for club championships around the Cape. The very first year that he was eligible, he won the Cape Cod Senior Amateur. Many times he shot his age, but the first time was when he was 68. Always a strong leader, he served as President of Cummaquid Golf Club. For the last 30-plus years, Peter has been an active member at the Hyannisport Club, creating many wonderful golf memories with friends and family.

Peter is survived by his best friend and wife, Lynn Comandich, and three adult children, Alexandra Brown McDowell (Bruce McDowell) of Nevada City, CA, Peter Brooks Brown (Theresa Brown) of Portsmouth, NH, and Jennifer Brown Anzelone (Richard Anzelone) of Providence, RI. Peter also enjoyed being an entertaining and lively grandfather to Marnie, Olivia, and Peter McDowell, Hailey, Sterling, Carter, and Macie Brown, and Samuel and Abigail Anzelone.

Peter G. Brown was a hard-working businessman, a fun-loving friend to many, and a true gentleman. Peter’s family is inviting all his friends to a celebration of his life on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Hyannisport Club, 2 Irving Avenue, Hyannis Port, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Old Main St., South Yarmouth, MA 02664 or toThe American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St., W. Bridgewater, MA 02379.

We have so many happy memories of Peter and his family at the Cape that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. It was a privilege and pleasure to have known him.
