EAST DENNIS - In loving memory of Matthew Francis Hogan, a courageous and loving man, who inspired all those whose lives he touched, Matthew, 79 of East Dennis passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Queens, New York, Matt was the son of the late Matthew T. Hogan and Alice (Whelan) Hogan. He graduated from St. John’s University and New York Law School and served in the United States Navy.

Although a lawyer by profession, he started and ran his own maritime and aviation insurance brokerage firm, Nausch, Hogan and Murray, in Manhattan, New York until he retired at age 57.

Matt was the devoted husband of the late Maureen B. (Kehoe) Hogan who passed away in 2012. They moved to Cape Cod from Harrison, New York in 2005.

Matt was the loving father of The Honorable Maureen B. Hogan of Boston, Tara Hogan Scarborough of Cincinnati, OH, Deirdre A. Hogan of New York, NY and Matthew W. Hogan of St. Louis, MO. He was the proud grandfather of Devin A. Scarborough, Ryan E. Scarborough, Matthew W. Hogan, Jr., and Finley A. Hogan; father-in-law of Paul E. Ladd, Kenneth A. Scarborough and Lindsey Rogers Hogan; and brother of Kenneth J. Hogan, Alice L. Murphy, Theresa M. Symonds and the late Joan Hogan. Matt will remain forever in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday May 26, 2016, in Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster.

Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Route 134, South Dennis.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday May 25, 2016 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth.

Our condolences to Hogan Family. We were neighbors on 17th Avenue years back. Sister Maria has a home in Orleans and saw this. We recently were all up for a sibling week remembering our childhoods and you guys. We are sorry for your loss.
