Ronald R. Johnson, 84, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Bridgewater, died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Evelyn (Connolly) Johnson for 60 years.
Born in Brockton, Ron graduated from Brockton High School and attended 4 years of schooling to become a state certified cabinet maker. He began his career as a cabinet maker at Furnwood Corporation, then worked for many years at Wood-Hu Kitchens until his retirement. Ron served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on The USS Vesuvius AE 15. He was a member of the Bridgewater VFW, Coast Guard Auxiliary on Cape Cod and the VASA Club. He loved the Red Sox and the Patriots, fishing and was a former golfer.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his sons, Guy Johnson of Maine and Carl Johnson of Yarmouth; his daughter, Gail Jacoby and her husband, Jay, of Bahrain, Middle East; grandsons, Andrew Takacs of Boston, Christopher Johnson of Portland, ME, Guy Jr., and Jonathan Johnson of Lincoln, ME; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Gloria Hanlon of Florida and several loving nieces & nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 2nd, from 4-7pm, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 3rd, at 10am, in St. Pius X, Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, followed by interment at 12:30pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne.
