Arthur D. Jr., "Sully" Sullivan

Arthur D. Jr., "Sully" Sullivan of South Dennis, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. He was the husband of Marga Sullivan for an amazing 56 years.

Arthur was born in Cambridge, MA on March 11, 1938.  He grew up in Cambridge and graduated from St. John’s High School..  In 1957 he joined the U.S. Army where his travels to Germany united him with his wonderful wife, Marga.  After his time in the service, Arthur worked for the MBTA for 25 years and retired at an early age, settling on the Cape.  

One of his greatest interests was the game of golf.  He was a member of the Dennis Pines and Highlands for many years.  In his downtime he enjoyed
numerous rounds of golf, following many other sports, and most of all socializing with friends and strangers alike. Those who knew Arthur best would say that at times he could be a “grumpy gus”, but moreover, he could be described as a caring charismatic who lived by the mantra, “never too busy for a kind word”. Arthur will be remembered best for his witty sense of humor which brought laughter and smiles to many souls.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Marga Sullivan, he is survived by one daughter, Debra Sullivan, one son, Robert Sullivan; grandchildren,
Danny, Derek, Kevin, Shannon and Kaitlyn; sisters, Beatrice Walsh and Gail Metcalf and a large extended family.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 3-6 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Route 134, South Dennis, MA.
