James “Bimmy” M. Fredericks, 76, of South Yarmouth, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth M. Fredericks; his three children James, Dean and Meridith; and his six grandchildren. Born in Boston, James enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp at the age of 17. Following his discharge from the military, he served on the Brookline Fire Department and retired from the Brookline Police Department as a Detective. James owned and operated the former Fiddlesticks Restaurant. He was also the Director of the Barnstable Police Academy. In his spare time, James loved to play the bagpipes, run in the Boston Marathon and coach local softball teams. Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday September 7, 2016 from 2 to 4pm in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30am, on Thursday, September 8, 2016 in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, followed by a burial at 2pm, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, MacArthur Blvd, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 434 Route 134, Suite G, South Dennis, MA 02660 or the Disabled American Veterans, 1200 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.

We will truly miss our customer/friend/handyman because that is what he became. We will miss his visits and his tales of his past. A wonderful man, who did it all!
