Phyllis Adele Armstrong Fox, 85, of South Yarmouth, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, Sunday, September 11, 2016, at home with her family by her side. She was the loving Mother of the Late Thomas J. Fox and Christopher A. Fox. Born and raised in Wayland, New York on May 11, 1931, Phyllis moved to Belmont, MA and finally settled in Waltham for 40 years on Circle Drive. She worked as a legal secretary for the law firm Lane and Altman for many years before retiring. She was married to Terrence Fox and they later divorced. Phyllis always wanted to stay busy, so after a brief retirement she took a job at Fanny Farmer Candies at the Burlington Mall. She said that was her favorite job, and how seeing everyone leaving with candy and smiles made her day. She moved to Yarmouth, MA in 2005. She may be gone in body but not in spirit. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 4-7pm, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a cancer fund of your choosing, as they all need donations.

Chris, sorry I can't be home to help out with everything. Phyllis always treated me like a son and I will never, ever forget that. I always had the utmost respect for her and what she stood for. She will be dearly missed.

Chris I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a unique lady and will be missed. I was just thinking about her yesterday. We will try our best to make it to the services. You are in our thoughts.
