Josephine “Jo" G. (O'Neil) Clarke, 80, slipped gently into the arms of Our Savior, the morning of November 18, 2016, with her family gathered by her side. Josephine was loving wife of Earle L. Clarke, daughter of the late Ira Bernard and Ruth (Hatch) O'Neil, born December 11, 1935.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Bernard Whitney, Sisters Ruth Cipkowski and MaryAnn Savery, Son Wayne William, and Great-Grandson Dustin Clarke Bassett. She is survived by her Husband of 62 years, Earle L. Clarke, Daughters Dawn, Terri, and Cynthia. Daughter-In-Law June; Grandchildren April Clarke, Donny Clarke, Diana and her Husband Darren Bassett, Ryan Hayes, Jennifer and her Husband Kurt Casanova, Adam O'Keefe, Kevin and his wife Stephanie Hayes; Great Grandchildren Dylan, Dale, and Danica; and several Nieces, Nephews, & Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

She was VERY proud to be a Native Cape Codder. Born in West Dennis in 1935, attended Ezra Baker School and graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1954. Growing up in West Dennis, living very close by her Family, gave her the opportunity of meeting not only lifelong friend Joanne (DeChambeau) Chassey, but also her future husband. Jo and Earle were married September 25, 1954, continuing to live in West Dennis, moved briefly to Osterville, and eventually settled in Yarmouthport, where she met her closest and longtime friends Barbara and Pat.

Jo's passion was both her Family and People. Being a "surrogate" Mom to many. Her door was always open for all, offering coffee and advice to Cheryl, Dawn, Diane, Terry, and countless others. She held many types of employment from making & decorating wedding cakes, being a school cafeteria helper, waitress, pharmacy tech, and CNA. She loved her Family. She loved having both grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was looking forward with such excitement to welcoming two more in 2017.

She enjoyed cross-stitching, music, dancing, Boston Celtics. She loved laughing, cookouts, and daily coffee with "the girls". She loved life. Although we will miss her every day, she will live on forever in our hearts, and the smiles of her Grandchildren, & Great Grandchildren, those here now, and those to come.

Aside from all her Friends and Family, our sincere thanks and gratitude for the help, love, and support from Elder Services of Dennis, Hope Hospice of Hyannis, our Group Members, and the Bayada Caregivers. We would have been lost without you.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 11am, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 12NOON, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Ln, Hyannis, MA 02601 or The American Lung Association, c/o Donation Processing Center, PO Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001
