Judith “Judy” McClory, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in South Yarmouth, on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. She was 72.
Born and raised in Brockton, MA, Judy lived for years in Salem MA, where she raised a family with the love of her life, her husband Charlie. Judy spent many happy years working as an administrative assistant at Manchester High School. Always a fixture around town on her power walks, working at the polls, and chatting up everyone she ran into, Judy will be missed by many friends on the North Shore.
Some of Judy's happiest times were spent on long summer vacations camping throughout New England, and on a once in a lifetime eight-week cross-country trip with the family.
After she and Charlie retired, they moved to South Yarmouth, and spent winters in Naples FL. Judy kept busy with golf, garden club, volunteer work, her bocce team, Rummikub group - and of course, enjoying "just a dollop" of wine and conversation with her many cherished friends. Judy truly adored her grandchildren. Geneva, Orion, Nate, and Benny were the highlight of her life. All the kids loved their "Gram" and were so excited whenever she came to visit.
She will be sorely missed by all. Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charlie. She is survived by her son, Adam and his wife Jodi, of Moscow, Idaho; her daughter, Heather and her husband Jeff, of Westford, Massachusetts; her brother Dick and his wife Bette; her brother Kenneth and his wife Cindy; and her beloved grandchildren, Geneva, Orion, Nate, and Benny.
Visiting Hours will be held Monday, December 5, 2016, from 4-6pm in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, at 11am, in Ancient Cemetery, Ancient Way, Yarmouthport.
Donations may be made to The Garden Club of Yarmouth, P. O. Box 94, South Yarmouth, MA 02664; or the South Yarmouth Library Association, PO Box 630, South Yarmouth, MA 02664

Heather and Adam, It is impossible for me to find the words to express my deep sorrow at this time. Your mother and I had a beautiful relationship that became even closer after our husbands died. I loved every visit with her. We shared many laughs, concerns, secrets, games of bananagram and dollops. You and your families will be in my prayers as you grieve. Hopefully you will find comfort in good memories and in knowing how much you were loved

I work at Longfellows Pub in South Yarmouth, I waited on your Parents many times, your father always liked his Manhattans. Your mother continued to come in to the restaurant after your father died with her girlfriends and always have a good time. I also work at the Yarmouth Town Hall, so I would see you mother often just recently when she purchased her new car and had to replace her dump sticker and was excited about going back to Florida. I wish you all the best. Stephanie Cappello dtetown tnt I also worY s

Heather and Adam We are sorry we will not be able to come to the Cape next week as our schedules has conflicts with your services. We are so sorry to hear of your mother's death. To say the least it was a shock. We were both excited about seeing her in Naples in January. Judy and Charlie were long time friends going back to college days for Charlie and to the days when you both were the most precious things in their lives. Your mother was special and we will miss her. You and the children are going to miss having a wonderful grandmother and mother for those exciting visits. We will always remember Judy and Charlie McClory. Mary Jo and Dick Dussault

As a young teacher at the time, I remember attending year-end social studies department parties at the McClory house, a red Cape if I remember correctly, in Salem. Charlie had hired me to develop an alternative social studies program -- rock climbing, prison visits, canoeing down the Ipswich River... He was encouraging and supportive in the face of some of the raised eyebrows that I generated with such a curriculum. Later in my career, when I was in special education, I co-taught a U.S. History class with Charlie. One day, out of the blue, he burst into song with "Tennessee Ernie" Ford's "Sixteen Tons" to illustrate the plight of the working man. The class sat in stunned attention. One of the girls in that class is now my daughter-in-law and the mother of two of my grandchildren. She remembers the incident well. I will always remember the McClory family as gracious hosts and, in Charlie's case, as a key figure in my teaching career. My best wishes to the extended family. Stuart Deane Newburyport
