Margaret Doris Filling (Williams) passed away peacefully at Bourne Manor on December 28, 2016 at the age of 89. Margaret was born to Walter F. Williams and Lillian May Williams (Cassidy) on March 9, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was one of seven children. When she was fifteen years old, she met her future husband, Charles, at a church picnic. They were introduced by his Aunt Caroline who insisted Margaret meet her nephew. Margaret was quite the beauty with a good heart and caring soul. Well, love quickly bloomed between the two teenagers. With WW II looming, Charles soon left with the U.S. Army to travel overseas. They wrote each other love letters until his return, marrying a few years later. Their marriage lasted for 53 years, until Charles’ death in 2001. Margaret worked for the telephone company until her first child, Charles III, was born; followed by twin daughters, Joyce and Eileen, six years later. Sadly, Eileen died at birth. The family moved to Cape Cod in 1977, a place they vacationed for many years. Margaret enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting and of course, the beautiful Cape Cod beaches. Margaret was a devoted and extraordinary mother and grandmother. She attended John Wesley United Methodist Church each Sunday and shared a deep love of her faith with her family. She will always be remembered for her wonderful Sunday dinners, great food including chicken noodle soup, crab cakes and lasagna to name a few, as well as her gentle guidance, words of wisdom and of course, her notorious love of sweets! She is survived by her son Charles E. Filling III and his wife Peg; her daughter, Joyce E. Bartlett and her husband Daniel. Three grandchildren, Jeanette Chaprales and her husband Charlie; Bethany Gary and her husband Christopher and Matthew Young and his wife Rachel. She also has three great-grandsons; Braxton Gary, Alexander Chaprales and Elliot Charles Young and one great- granddaughter Kenley Gary. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who love her dearly. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Filling, Jr., her daughter Eileen, her parents and all her brothers and sisters. Margaret left her family with a legacy of love and happy memories. She will never be forgotten and they will always carry a piece of her in their hearts. The family would like to especially thank Bourne Manor for their support, love and care of Margaret. A Visitation will be held at 10am, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11am, Thursday, January 5th at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford St, Falmouth, followed by a burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, at 12:30PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, you do one small act of kindness in her memory.
