Barbara Ellen (Oberlin) Pazakis, 73, of South Yarmouth, died on July 7, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was a strong fighter until the end, never wanting the family gathering to end. Barbara grew up in Summit, New Jersey daughter of Otto and Marie Oberlin. She is preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Oberlin. Barbara lived in Bass River with her devoted husband, Rossetto where she raised her two children, Melissa and Micheal. Barbara graduated from Summit High School in New Jersey. She then went on to graduate from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. From there she did graduate work at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Rizzitano and her husband, Richard Rizzitano of North Falmouth; her son Michael Pazakis and his wife Colleen, of Lynn Haven, Florida; and her three granddaughters, Madison B. Haberl, Mckenzie L. Haberl and Mary M. Pazakis. As a lifelong tennis player and scholar whose children and grandchildren were all accomplished athletes, Barbara was the quintessential sports mom and grandma for two generations of high school and college athletes, with her inspirational support at all games while also encouraging the importance of academics. In her neighborhood, she was known as the go-to woman for gardening, culinary and history. Together, with her beloved husband Rossetto she operated the Riverway Lobster House in South Yarmouth. Her passions included gardening, being outdoors and hiking every trail of Cape Cod. Barbara and Rossetto loved traveling and visiting their children, which brought them to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Florida. She was a lover and caretaker of animals big and small, and she loved children and they in turn loved her. The family would love to thank Dr. Lovett, nurses and staff from the Oncology Department at Cape Cod Hospital for their loving care of Barbara. Friends and family are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at South Yarmouth United Methodist Church, 324 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara's life. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Animal Rescue League of Boston at 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116.

I was so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing! She was such a loving wife and mother. My family (the Gormans) lived across the street for many years and we always loved the whole family and to hear about all their fun and adventures. You were loved, Barbara, and you will be deeply missed.

Auntie Barbara I'm so sorry to hear of your passing. I'm happy we spoke after Daddy died. Although we didn't see much of each other, I remember the times that we had. I enjoyed the visits to the Cape & Restaurant! I play tennis now. I remember so well, many times you ran out in your Tennis Skirt and Racket in hand. Wish I played then with you! Uncle Rosseto, Melissa & Michael & Families, are in my Prayers. God Bless you with the strength and fond memories at this most difficult time! Love, Donna

Ross, I am so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life. Take heart. Time will soften the edges and ease your burden.
