Bernard John Sissens

Yarmouth Port, MA:  Bernard J. Sissens, 91, of Yarmouth Port, MA died September 5, 2017 after a long illness.
 
Born in London, England on June 18, 1926 he was the third child of Violet and Percy Sissens.  He grew up in St. Albans, England where he was a chorister in the church choir, a member of Company of Ten (dramatic society), Old Verulamium football club and tennis.  He was employed by W. O. Peake Ltd. (Rodex coats) who sent him to the U.S. in 1956.  While in the U.S. he became partners with Pen Aston in Aston Imports Ltd., importer of fine English goods; Liberty of London silks, Lyle & Scott sweaters as well as Rodex coats.  Eventually they manufactured their own products under the label of Aston & Cranmore.  He retired as president of the company.
 
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Clare Jones Sissens, who resides in South Yarmouth.  He is also survived by one of his three sisters, Dorothy Roberts, of Allestree, England, and many nieces and nephews, who have visited often.  The other two sisters, Constance and Sylvia, he will join in heaven.
 
His family, his home and gardening were his passions though he enjoyed sailing while living in Connecticut and spent many hours on Long Island Sound.  He loved the Cape and was a member of the Orleans Mens Garden Club for many years.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth Port on Route 6A at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 29, 2017

Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Port Fire Department Rescue Squad, VNA, or Bayada.
