West Yarmouth:  Kathryn Potter passed away peacefully on November 19, 2017, at the age of 63, at her best friend, Bambi’s, home, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by those who loved her.

Kathryn was a 1972 graduate of Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School. She worked for many years at French Shriner Shoe Co. followed by employment with Terminix, Ramsey & Associates and finally in the law offices of Laura McDowell-May as a legal assistant.

Her greatest joy in life came to her in 1995 with the birth of her beautiful daughter, Mackenzie.  All that Kathie needed in life to make her happy was her daughter’s smile, the ocean, shopping and time with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Mackenzie Potter, of West Yarmouth, her brother, retired Senior Chief Petty Officer, William McPherson, and his wife, Paula,  her nieces, Caitlin and Megan, all of Watertown, Wisconsin, and her uncle, Bruce Stephens of West Yarmouth and many loving cousins and friends.

Kathie was predeceased by her parents, Chief Petty Officer, Frank McPherson, and Margaret (Stephens) McPherson.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4 to 6 P.M.

Dear Billy, Please accept our sympathy on Kathy's passing. Ed DeFreitas is my brother in-law and, of course, Jean was my sister (Sue). We have lots of good memories of visiting the Bennett Ave. neighborhood back when...we lived on the Cape from 1972-82 in Dennis. Our son Rich graduated in 1980, Peter DeF in 1981, and our daughter Pam in 1982 from D-YHS. Son David and daughter Amy attended Wixon School--and would come homne with tales about your dad's "all hands on deck" calls on the PA system in the mornings! Your dad and mom were proud that our David enlisted in the Navy in 1996 following his HS graduation here in Vero Beach, FL--and would love to know that he's still serving active duty as Force Master Chief of Navy Information Forces in Suffolk, VA. Your mom, Kathy, Jean, and I all attended St. David's all those years ago, too... Please know that we send our congratulations that you achieved the rank of Senior Chief...and that we send our love to you. I'm sure your dad was a "sideboy" piping Kathy into heaven! God comfort you, and grant you peace in your heart.
