William L. Brown, 93, of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts died peacefully on November 27 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, Eagle Pond, South Dennis, MA.
 
Born in Bangor, Maine in 1924 he was the eldest surviving son of Benjamin Brown and Dorothy Meehan.  Right after graduating Brewer High School in Maine, he joined the United States Army in 1943 and served as a gunner in the Army Air Force during World War II.   Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, having served faithfully and honorably, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1970.   He received an Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and a Certificate of Merit for outstanding contribution and service to the mission of Strategic Air Command.
 
After a distinguishing career in the military, he worked at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Unemployment Office finding jobs for people, including veterans, and retired in 1991.
 
He had a passion for woodworking, remodeling his home and building furniture for his family.  He was a kind- hearted soul who loved animals and brought cheer and happiness to those around him.  He dearly loved his wife and she loved him.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine J. Brown, his four children Nancy, Roger, Gary and Natalie and his four step-sons Stephen, Larry, Richard and James Edwards and his grandchildren.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth.
