The Rev. Dr. Harry B. Irwin III of Yarmouthport, MA passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sallie (Moyer) Irwin and two daughters: Cindy Irwin and her husband, Bill Singer, and Susan Irwin and two granddaughters: Libby and Jane Singer, all of Seattle, WA. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Dorothy Moyer. We loved him so much and we knew he loved us.

Born on April 28, 1930 and raised in Reading, PA, Harry attended Albright College, Temple University, Gettysburg College and Boston University, where he received his Doctor of Ministry. He was a lifelong learner.

Harry and his family vacationed on the Cape for many years, and he and Sallie retired to Yarmouthport from Pennsylvania in June 1998. He loved boating, fishing, gardening, cooking and time with family and friends. He and Sallie travelled widely, particularly enjoying a trip to Ireland, as he was proud of his Irish roots.

Harry was a United Methodist pastor for 44 years and served in his retirement at First Congregational Church, Yarmouthport, MA and Union Chapel in Hyannisport, MA where he was much beloved. Harry sang in the choir at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable, MA and served as a healing minister, and leaves many close friends.

He lived a life of service, both in and out of church. Harry ministered in ways large and small, using his natural gifts of humor and kindness. He never met a joke he didn’t like. Please share jokes in his memory.

He served as chaplain for the Norristown, PA Fire Department, and was a member of the Norristown Rotary Club, as well as The Concordia Masonic Lodge No.67, A F. & A.M. of PA, Order of St. Luke, and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Philadelphia, PA. Hyannis Yacht Club, Hyannis, MA, and Boston University Alumni.

A Funeral Service and celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 11 am, in St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 3055 Main St., Barnstable, Massachusetts with reception following in the parish hall. Interment to follow the reception.
