Richard was born September 7, 1934 and raised in Holbrook, Massachusetts by his parents Alexander and Dorothy Uronis (Pattee). He attended Holbrook schools and before his marriage on August 26, 1956 to Carol Samulis, he served in the United States Navy as a Machinist’s Mate on the USS Brownson (DD 868) from 1953 to 1956. After the Navy, Richard worked at various companies as a Machinist/Fabricator before becoming an Engineering Manager at Instron Corporation in Canton, while raising his family in East Bridgewater. He was a dedicated husband and father and put much of his effort into providing for his family. He attended Bridgewater State College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1979. After twenty-two years at Instron Corporation, and soon after his retirement in 1996, Richard and Carol moved to South Yarmouth, where they could be near the ocean and Richard could pursue his hobbies and his passion for boating and fishing. He also enjoyed working on inventions, reading and learning all he could, and working around the house and yard. Richard is survived and will be sorely missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carol L. Uronis (Samulis), and by his children and their families: daughters Jayne Poshkus and husband Arvidas, Suzanne Martell and her children Alicia and Robert, Robert’s fiancé, Jennifer, his sons, Richard J. Uronis and his wife Wendy, their children Richard and Andrea, and William S. Uronis and his wife Sara. Richard is also survived by his sisters and brother, Beatrice Cudmore, Christine Kindelan and John Uronis. He was also loved by his nieces, nephews and many dear friends. . Richard’s family would like to extend their thanks to the many nurses and doctors at Cape Cod Hospital, the staff at the Pavilion Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hyannis, and the VNA Hospice Service for their kindness, consideration and professionalism while caring for Richard, and to Patricia A. O’Donnell and her staff for their kind, gentle and caring ways, and for being there for both Richard and Carol at their time of need.
