Henry R. Traube "Hank"

Jul 26th, 2018

Henry R. Traube “Hank” 85 of Yarmouth Port died at his home Thursday July 26, 2018.

He is survived by, and the husband of, Virginia N. (Zango) Traube. They had been married for 47 years.

Born in Norwalk, CT, Hank was the son of the late Ralph and Sally (Cooper) Traube. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and from New York University in the 1950’s. Hank also attended medical school at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, VA.

In October of 1970, while walking on Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, devoid of all people, Hank met Virginia Zango and struck up a conversation with her. They were married six months later.

Hank was a big supporter of Virginia’s desire to open a ballet studio in downtown Hyannis. After 3 years they relocated to a bigger facility on Route 28 in West Dennis and operated the Mid Cape Ballet Academy where they enjoyed 30 years of teaching and investing in other ventures. They were very proud of the students that became doctors, teachers, business investors, therapists, and soloists with the New York City Ballet. They always felt blessed to have earned a good living on precious Cape Cod.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday August 2 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

Interment will be private.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Dr., Hyannis, MA 02601.
