Windsor, Josephine (Amato) (Aloi),96, of W. Yarmouth (formerly of Boston, Medford, Hamilton & Florida) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Sol Windsor and Louis Aloi, devoted mother of JoAnn (Aloi) Peona and her husband John Peona of Cape Cod and Florida, Loving grandmother of Valerie (Peona) Bilheimer and her husband, Steve, of Ct and Jon V Peona of Florida. Proud great-grandmother of Kylah and Brady Bilheimer and Violet and Jesse Peona. Born in the North End of Boston, Josephine was the eldest sibling of Philip Amato, the late Leonard Amato and Christine LoRusso, Mary Salvo and Salvatore Amato. She also leaves behind several cherished nieces, nephews and friends. One week shy of 97, she lived a long, full and vibrant life. Words just can’t express how much we’ll miss her. She’s just always been there…. We can’t believe she’s gone! The matriarch of our family, our rock, our mentor, our family’s cornerstone. After many years as an owner & operator of a successful beauty salon in Burlington, she retired at the age of 75 and finally had the time to enjoy the winter months in sunny Florida. There, she and Sol made many new and wonderful friends during the next 20+years. The summer months were spent on Cape Cod enjoying friends and family get-togethers. Josephine loved to travel, cook, read, crochet, paint and play card games. She particularly liked poker! She also enjoyed Mahjongg, Canasta, Cribbage, Dominos, Crossword Puzzle’s, Cryptograms and Puzzles…right up to the very end! She often said ” this is what keeps my mind sharp…you need to keep building those brain cells”. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA on Thursday, September 13 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral Mass will follow at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA at 11:30 am. A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in her memory to her favorite charities: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 313 Washington St, #310 Newton, MA 02458 and Shriners Hospital of Boston, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114
