Susan Elizabeth Linton, 60, of Centerville, died suddenly on September 17 in New Port Richey, FL.

She was born in Needham, MA to the late Robert Joseph Linton and the late Patricia (Andrews) Linton.

She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the college, St. Benedict, in St. Joseph, Minnesota in 1980. During the summers, while she was in high school, she enjoyed her job as a lifeguard at Red River Beach in Harwich, MA and made many friends there. During the school year, she played piano for Paulette’s Ballet Studio. After her college graduation, she was the accompanist for Dr. Robert Kidd and taught Music Appreciation at Cape Cod Community College. Susan was known for her wonderful music ability, played the piano beautifully and was an accomplished guitar player as well. Music played such an important role in her life.

Susan was adored by her students at Mattacheese Middle School in Yarmouth, MA and later at the Oakridge School in Sandwich, MA, where she was a music teacher. She thoroughly enjoyed playing her keyboard for the patients at Chips House in Centerville, MA and received great satisfaction in believing that she made a difference in their lives through her music. She entertained at many Cape Cod Restaurants over the years and was requested to sing at many weddings, funerals and various events. For years she teamed up with her musical partner, Dick Stocks, by forming the duo, “Cameo”, and creating a faithful following of patrons everywhere they played.

Susan wrote the song, “Christmas Eve on Cape Cod”, which is played on many local radio stations during the holiday season and she thoroughly enjoyed performing it at various holiday events and especially with the Cape Cod Symphony.

Susan leaves her three beloved children: Jessica Ormon, of New Port Richey, FL, Robert Ormon, of Yarmouth Port, MA and Richard Ormon, of South Dennis, MA. She also leaves her two sisters: Debbie Sutherland and her husband, Skip Sutherland, of Holiday, FL, Janice Harrington and her husband, Glen Harrington, of Marstons Mills, MA, and her two nephews Thomas and Jonathan Harrington. She also leaves her uncle, Arthur Andrews and his wife, Ann (Mercier) Andrews of South Dennis, MA and several cousins.

Susan loved her children more than anything. When they were young she would often be found volunteering in their classrooms playing piano and singing songs with them and their classmates. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with them, especially Mayflower Beach in Dennis. She was a runner and ran in many races over the years. She had a special place in her heart for her cat and loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her childhood friend, Margaret (Judge) Doherty whom she had known since second grade. She loved talking with people and was known to often strike up a conversation with anyone, at any given time which was one of the things everyone loved about her.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4-6 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.
