He was the husband of 62 years to his late wife Kathleen M. Lavache. Born and raised in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Carl V. Lavache and Anna E. (Schortmann) Lavache. His late siblings include brothers Daniel and Victor Lavache. He is survived by his younger brothers Richard Lavache, Peter Lavache and Stephen Lavache, and his younger sisters Patricia Greenwood and Linda Anastasia. Bob graduated from Mission Church High School in 1951 and eagerly joined the United States Marine Corps immediately thereafter. He served in the Korean War for four years, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He met his wife at Craigsville Beach on Cape Cod in the summer of 1955. They were married within a year on July 21, 1956 in Boston. He was the loving father of Susan Lavache and her husband Rich of Amherst, NH, Kathleen A. Lavache of Lexington, Christopher Lavache and his wife Laurie of San Diego, CA, Roberta Farina and her husband Lou of Dracut, Mary Lavache of York, ME, and Amy Fagan and husband Jim of Wilmington. The proud grandfather of ten grandchildren; Derek, Laura and Christopher Sorensen, Anthony and Dana Farina, Liam Fagan, Haley Lavache, Jillian Tompane and Chelsey and Jesse Hill, and two great grandchildren Tanner and Boone Tompane. As a graduate from Northeastern University, and a young civil and structural engineer, Bob’s discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him. Over his 40 year work-span he worked for a Boston-based international engineering firm as a Principal Civil Engineer. During his working years, he also earned his Masters Degree from Northeastern University. Known for his warm quiet smile but firm and gentle spirit, he had many close and life-long friends. Raising six children, he was the designated trainer/coach/sponsor/driver for all figure skating, cheerleading, Pom Pom, horseback riding, hockey and baseball activities for over 20 years. He was always a good role model and the family leader for his children’s sports activities. As a chef, his Beef Bourguignon, Carbonade and Italian Pot Roasts filled our Sunday kitchens and bellies for many years. In retirement he was an avid golfer and enjoyed winters in Myrtle Beach, building model ships, collecting coins and genealogy on Cape Cod. With a smile in his eyes, his commitment to his wife, six children and grandchildren always earned him the title of the loving family patriarch. He will have a lasting impact on all of our lives. Bob Lavache will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a procession to the Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth Port, MA for graveside services at 1:30 PM.
