Joseph S. Cotell Jr.  66 of West Yarmouth died at his home Sunday November 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Deborah A. (Burke) Cotell for 40 years.

Born in Barnstable and raised in Yarmouth, Joe was the son of the late Joseph S., Sr. and Edith (Wickman) Cotell. He was a 1971 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

Joe was employed for 45 years as a custodian between Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and Trinity Christian Academy. He also served on the call department of the Yarmouth Fire Department for 16 years as a Lieutenant, firefighter, EMT, and drill instructor.

An active member of the Living Hope Family Church in Hyannis, Joe served in maintance, head of security and the usher team. He also taught Bible Study.

Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and spending quality time with his children, family and friends. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and taking trips to Pennsylvania and Maine.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by a son, Joseph S. Cotell III and his wife, Diane of Raynham; a daughter, Phyllis Cotell and her wife, Lisa of Taunton; two grandchildren, Brittney Marshall and Kora Desrochers; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Chapin. He also had six grandfur babies that were Belgian Tervurens.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday December 1 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Yarmouth.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
