WALKER – Barbara P. (Wynot) 91 of Dennis died Wednesday August 5, 2015.

She was the wife of Reverend Mr. Edward A. Walker for 70 years.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Walker graduated from Boston High School of Practical Arts and became assistant teacher to the Art Department of the school.

After her marriage in 1944, she lived for three years at Andover Newton Theological School while her husband worked to receive his Master of Divinity Degree.

While Barbara’s husband was Pastor of the Congregational Church of Brookfield, CT from 1949 to 1971 , she was active in the community in many ways, including being a Girl Scout Leader.  In 1986, Barbara’s husband retired as Co-Pastor of Christ Congregational Church UCC in Brockton, and they took up residence in Dennis.

Throughout these many years of ministry, Barbara taught Sunday School, advised youth groups and sang in the choir. She was a gifted artist and served, with great pleasure, as a Docent at the Cape Museum of Art.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Ruth Goldberg and her husband, Jack of Reading; her sister-in-law, Ethel Leonard of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday August 22 in the Dennis Union Church, 713 Route 6A, Dennis.

Interment will be held in the memorial garden of the Brookfield Congregational Church.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis Union Church, P.O. Box 2020, Dennis, MA 02638.
