Alice B. Bogus (Babbitt) of South Yarmouth, passed away January 25, 2019 at the age of 86. She had a heart of gold, always there for anyone in need. Alice was born August 29, 1932 in Simsbury Connecticut and lived there with her husband raising their three boys until moving to Cape Cod.

Alice was predeceased by her husband John and son Peter. She is survived by sons John Bogus and wife Holly of Centerville and Jeff Boguslofski and wife Michelle of South Carolina. She leaves behind four grandchildren; Stephanie Vandarwarka, Amy Bogus, Joshua Boguslofski and Cory Boguslofski and his wife Kendal and three great grandchildren; Nathan and Henry Vandarwarka and Sutton Boguslofski. She is also survived by her very close friend, Sue Keenan of Simsbury Connecticut who was like a daughter to her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she cherished as well as many friends and people who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Alice.

Alice and John moved to Cape Cod after retirement in 1997 and bought their first home which she dearly loved. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, never to be swayed by those who loved the Red Sox, including her husband. You can imagine the many disagreements while they watched ball games! She enjoyed a full life after retiring from The Ensign Bickford Company in Simsbury Connecticut where she was employed for 49 years. She loved taking long walks on the beach, golfing, and was a member of the Dennis-Yarmouth Woman’s Club for many years. One of her greatest achievements was organizing and collecting donations for a yearly summer picnic for the veterans from the Brockton VA Hospital. If you needed contributions and donations for anything, Alice was your person.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 5-7 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth, Route 6A, Yarmouth Port, MA. Interment will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery, Old Mill Way, West Yarmouth, MA.

I am so saddened and in shock to hear of Alice's passing. I have known Alice for the last almost 11 years. I work at the VA Hospital and we worked closely together for the annual VA picnic. Alice had a huge heart and was always calling me to ask me what the veterans needed, even when I said we didn't need anything she still wanted to do more. She never hung up the phone without asking how my "little one" was doing. Alice was an amazing person with a heart of gold. Alice was very special to me and will be sadly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart felt prayers go out to you and yours for your loss. I worked with Alice at Ensign Bickford back in the 80's & 90's and have always had such an adoration for her. My heart is heavy but my thoughts are pleasant. Much love to you all Chris Plona

Our deepest sympathies go out to Alice's family for the loss of your dear mother. Alice was a dear close friend of her neighbor, my late mother, Madelyn Clancy. Alice and Madelyn shared many a good time together throughout their later years in life. Now they can share time together again, smiling down on us all. May she rest in peace.

Alice was one of a kind. especially Veterans at the Brockton VA Hospital . Every year she and the D/Y Womens Club would put on a picnic for Patient of the VA Hospital. this practice has been going on for over 40 years and under her direction it thrived. these women would cook, bake, and serve the patients May the Good Lord watch over Her for she did God's work on earth
