Charlotte Hardy Besse, 86, of Centerville died February 23, 2019 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She defiantly fought a decade long battle with dementia. Charlotte was born in Worcester, MA to Charles and Hildur (Brunmark) Hardy. She grew up in Norwood, MA and was a spirited and adorable high school cheerleader. She graduated from Skidmore College with a major in Art and worked many years as an elementary Art teacher for the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District. After retirement, she worked at the Yield House and volunteered at Cape Cod Child Development, the Centerville Beautification Committee, and St. Peter's Church Fairs. She is survived by two brothers, Douglas and John Hardy, her son, Bruce Besse Jr. (Patricia) of Marstons Mills and daughter, Susan Wood (Chris) of Centerville. She is known as "Mamie" to her loving grandsons: Thomas and Andrew Wood, Luke and Patrick Besse. She proudly attended all their school and sporting events. Her boys were her everything and they adored her. . She was blessed with amazing nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. She loved them dearly. She was a talented artist, gardener, and CBA beach worshipper. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and the medicinal powers of Glögg. She was easy with a laugh, hug, kiss and colorful language. She was cared for by her daughter. Sue wishes to thank her devoted family and friends for being so supportive during this long commitment of care. The family would also like to thank the added caregiving from Robbin and Dawn. Robbin, thank you for loving Charlotte and embracing her naughtiness. Thank you to Amy and Beacon Hospice for your comfort & support in her last months. Please wish her eternal joy. She so deserves that. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
