Melody A. Zamachaj

Yarmouth Port – Melody “Mel” A, Space-Zamachaj passed away at home on March 7, 2019 with her loving husband, Richard Zamachaj, for 29 years, after a brief illness.

Mel was born at Cape Cod Hospital, the daughter of the late Douglas R. Space and Elizabeth (Fruean) Space of Yarmouth Port. Growing up in Yarmouth Port, Mel was a1970 graduate of DY High School and was always proud to be a “Dolphin”.

Mel graduated from the Cape Cod Community College Nursing Program and became a Registered Nurse. As a Registered Nurse, she worked at the Cape Cod Artificial Kidney Center for 35 years. She also worked for Dialysis at Sea, providing hemodialysis for vacationing patients on Caribbean and European cruises. She retired in 2014. Mel absolutely loved her patients and they loved her.

Melody was talented and enjoyed arts and crafts. She also enjoyed camping, gardening and walking her dog.

In addition to her husband Richard Zamachaj, she is survived by her mother Elizabeth (Fruean) Space of Yarmouth Port; sister Pamela Coggeshall of Yarmouth Port; brother, Gary Space of Yarmouth Port. Mel loved her nieces Annie and Faythe; her nephew Chet, as well as 5 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Bryan Space.

Per Mel’s wishes there will be a private graveside held for her immediate family.

Rich and Mel’s family wish to thank the staff at Cape Cod Hospital and VNA Hospice of Cape Cod for their loving, and compassionate care of Mel.

Mel was one the the best of everything ~~ Best Boss, Best of friends Loving Compassionate Funny...... No matter how long it was since the last meeting it was like no time at all had passed She will be missed and forever loved by all who knew her

I worked with Mel at CCAKC in the 80's. She was smart, hilarious, warm and generous. She will be missed.
