Dodge, Edwin “Ed” A of Cape Cod MA passed away peacefully on Monday August 26, 2019 with the cherished memories of his wife, children, grandchildren and cousins.

Ed was married for 68 years to Ruth Elaine ( Howard ) and leaves four loving families: the late Thomas Dodge, wife Janice and their son Jared; the late Kenneth Dodge, wife Christine and their stepchildren the late Paul Duffy, Tracy Kaback and Peter Duffy; Russell Dodge, wife Leslie and their children Capt. Ryan & Lindsay; Bruce Dodge, wife Jayne and their children Matthew and fiance Kendra and their children Zoe and Grayson and Chelsea and her husband Anthony. Ed is predeceased by his twin brother Elwood Dodge and his brother Philip Dodge. Ed also has many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and families that he sends his love.

Ed was born in Western Mass to Earl O Dodge and Gladys Dow Minor. He attended Springfield Technical High School, was in World War II (Corporal), and graduated from Fitchburg State & Westfield College with degrees in Education. Ed started out in Special Education, worked as a Shop Teacher then moved into his primary role as a principal for over 30 years in West Springfield and Longmeadow school systems.

Ed loved to sail, build things, teach his boys how to maintain cars, travel with his wife and enjoy their many friends and cousins. They lived in West Springfield, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Palmer, Rockport, Sunapee NH and the Cape. They initially retired to Rockport enjoying the North Shore, then they spent quite a few years in Sunapee before settling at the cape for the last 16 years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brewster for their amazing care of Ed!

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 31st at 12 pm at the Hallett Funeral Home 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial services will be on Tuesday September 3rd at 12 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery on Parker Street Springfield MA for family and close family friends.
